Just south of the Altstadt (old town) in Mainz, this is a nice run through three adjacent parks: Drususwall, Stadtpark, Volkspark. A mix of paved and gravel paths pass through open & wooded terrain. The full out & back is 6.4 km.
Start in Drususwall, the park closest to Mainz center. There’s a paved path and additional paths that lead to the Mainz Citadel. Head east for 1.5 km, reaching Stadtpark. This park is more landscaped, with a combination of gardens and wooded areas. There’s a rose garden at the south end. Continue east to Volkspark — the largest of the parks and a more open landscape, facilities, a cafe, and a beer garden. Our route continues east for another 0.5 km on a paved path to Heiligkreuzweg. For the return, mix it up with other park paths.
Add-Ons: Additional paths in the parks. Also, there’s access to the Rhine paths in Mainz.
