The Denver and Rio Grande Western Rail Trail offers a good off-road running option north of Salt Lake City. The paved rail-trail runs for nearly 24 miles from the suburb of Bountiful ((10 miles north of Salt Lake City) north to Ogden. The southern 5 miles passing through the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area are among the most scenic. It’s popular for bird watching. The trail then passes through Farmington, Kaysville, Layton, Clearfield, and Clinton, ending at Hinckley Drive on the border of Roy and West Haven. At mile 2.6, connect with the Legacy Parkway Trail.

At Mile 2.6 of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Rail Trail off W 1275 in Centerville (@W 1275 N), catch this paved rail-trail, which runs for 13 miles between North Salt Lake City and Farmington. It’s mainly a commuter trail, running alongside Legacy Parkway & I-15.
