Plymouth: Devonport Marina & Parks

This is an exploration of the Devonport area in west Plymouth, which can be combined with our main Plymouth route. It’s ~6.5 miles, but can be shortened by eliminating the Royal William Yard area.

Start with a 1.5 mile tour of Royal William Yard, where there are paths around the 1800s area Royal Navy buildings and waterfront. Head away from the water on Dunford St. The next section is ~2 mile exploration of the Richmond Walk paths around Mayflower Marina and scenic Mount Wise Park (swimming pool in season!), which has tree-lined paths and a nice hilltop observation area with good views. Retrace your steps, leaving Richmond Walk on a path that crosses Devonport Hill. Then, explore the running track at Brickfields Sports Centre, the paths at Devonport Park (hilly!) and Stonehouse Creek. The are

Add-On/Longer Route: See our main Plymouth route. It’s a ~1 mile connection using Caroline Pl. and Soap St. on the east side of Millbay arena. In fact, you can combine the route and then take the train back from Devonport.
