Loire à Vélo Cycle Path

Creative Commons 1.0: Havang(nl)

The Loire à Vélo Cycle Path is a beautiful long-distance cycle roue in France, stretching 900 km. Much of it follows the Loire River towns covered in our Loire Valley guide. It’s also an excellent resource for finding good running spots if you’re staying in one of the towns along the Loire River. Several of our Loire Valley running routes feature parts of the Loire à Vélo. Some sections of the path are paved, while others are dirt/gravel. While most of the Loire à Vélo is a dedicated cycle path, there are some on-road sections.

We haven’t designed a specific route on the Loire à Vélo. Rather, we’ve included this post to use as a resource for finding a good running route if you’re in an area we haven’t covered, or as a way of extending some of your runs. This fantastic website features a detailed interactive map, scenic highlights, and suggested itineraries.
