Loire Valley, France

Tours: Loire River, Bridges, & Islands 10k

Google Street View

Tours is a university town and the largest city in the Loire Valley. This 10k route incorporates scenic paths along the Loire River, numerous bridges, and a loop around Île Simon.

Our route starts centrally at the Château de Tours, at the Saint-Symphorien suspension bridge. Run west on riverfront paths for 1.2 km to the Pont Napoléon (bridge), and enjoy a 1 km loop of the park-like Île Simon, which sits in the middle of the Loire. Coming off the bridge, head west on the Loire à Vélo cycle path for up to 2 km to the D37. There are nice views of the water on this path that sits below the main road. Retrace your steps, continuing east of Pont de Fil for 1.5 km, then return to the start by running over the Pont de Fil suspension bridge.

Add-On: Additional riverfront paths.
