New Farm Riverwalk

Wikimedia Commons

The Riverwalk is a paved multi-use path linking downtown Brisbane with the riverside suburb of New Farm. Featuring great views of the city and the Brisbane river, it’s popular route for locals who commute or escape for a lunch run, and visitors as well. Parts of the path are along a boardwalk on the river. It has been upgraded since the 2011 floods and includes shaded rest stops and various water fountains along the route.

The start point is at the Eagle Street Pier ferry terminal, where the path is called City Beach Boardwalk. It turns into New Farm Riverwalk, and runs for 4.1 km to New Farm Park.

Add-ons: You can continue following the path past New Farm to Newstead (see our Teneriffe route). You can also combine this route with the River Loop, using Story Bridge or the Eagle St pier, you can complete the River Loop (see our route there).

New Farm is also home to Parkrun, a free group 5k held every Saturday morning. You can see the course map and learn more here.
