Just down the river from the Brisbane CBD, the St. Lucia campus of the University of Queensland offers a scenic 5k run along the river and the lovely university grounds. The run can be extended by adding Dutton Park and a nice waterfront section along the Brisbane Corso

Shorter Loop: Start at the rowing sheds on Sir William Macgregor Drive.  Follow the route along the river then through the beautiful campus, which includes sandstone buildings and manicured gardens. This loop is 5.1 km.

Longer Run.  From the University, cross the Eleanor Schonell Bridge (also known as Green bridge), which includes a covered path for pedestrians, into Dutton Park, and do a loop around its pleasant paths. Option to continue by running along the Brisbane Corso in Yeronga, a path through a series of parks featuring nice water views. It’s 2 km from Dutton Park to Esplanade Park and the turnaround. There are some nice additional paths in Leyshon, Fehlberg, and Hude Road Parks. This adds up to 7.5 km for the full out and back.

The University of Queensland St Lucia campus is also home to Parkrun, a free group 5k held every Saturday morning.
