Features:
Île-de-Bréhat is a special place to visit and also a special place for running. This car-free island, located a short ferry ride away from the mainland near Paimpol, is known for its rolling farmland terrain, lighthouses, the St-Michel chapel, the Guerzido beach, historic watermill and the Verrerie of Bréhat. The island is 3.5 km long and 1.5 km wide, consisting of two islands — Île Nord & Île Sud, connected by the tiny Pont ar Prat bridge.
There’s wonderful running on Île-de-Bréhat, with 35+ km of rolling hill paths, which can be mix & matched in various ways. This map is a very helpful resource, showing the paths, distances, landmarks, & facilities. About 2/3 of the paths are paved multi-use paths, and can get very busy with cyclists in season — use caution! The paths with the dotted lines are pedestrian-only. A couple of recommended routes, from Le Petit Clos (ferry terminal): (Note: phare=lighthouse)
- Le Petit Clos to Pont ar Prat (the bridge connecting the two islands): 2 km one-way
- Le Petit Clos to Phare Paon: 4.5 km one-way
- Le Petit Clos to Croix de Maudez: 3.2 km one-way
