Copenhagen Old Town Tour

This is our Copenhagen ‘Runseeing’ tour. Enjoy some of the city’s main sites: the main shopping district, along the old harbor, past the royal palace, through the old fort, several parks and palace gardens, and the university neighborhood. It is courtesy of joggingroutes.org, which has a longer description of the route and lots of photos.

Old Town lies inside the 02 Highway, east of the National Museum, west of the Kastellet, and south of the Ă˜ster Søgade.

Start at City Hall. The first section is in the main shopping district. Then, a nice stretch along the water, passing by Amalienborg, the Queen’s Winter Residence, Design Museum, the Kastellet (17th Century Fortress), and the famed Little Mermaid. The second half of the run is parks and water. Go through gorgeous Ă˜stre Anlæg park, then a jaunt along the water, with row houses along the side streets if you’d like a detour. The final section of the run goes through the 17th Century Kongens Have (Kings Garden), and the University District, concluding at City Hall near the Copenhagen Cathedral.
