The Cedar River Trail is a 17.4 mile multi-use trail that runs from from where it enters Lake Washington in the City of Renton upriver to the community of Landsburg. The rail-trail passes through Renton, Maplewood, Cedar Mountain, Maple Valley, and Rock Creek. It’s a great opportunity for a longer distance run, and there’s some nice variety — there are parks, a golf course, and views of the Cedar River some of the way. At its origin there are nice views of Lake Washington. The first 12 miles are paved and the final 5 miles are soft-surface. Note: the trail is a gradual uphill north to south as the trail runs upriver, with the steepest section from miles 6-17.
There are numerous access points to the trail. The northern start is at Lake Washington. Cross I-05 at mile 1.6. From mile 2.6 to mile 12, the trail runs alongside Highway 169, passing through several parks. The southern 5 miles are non-paved and a little more pastoral. At mile 12.5, intersect with the Cedar to Green River Trail, a soft-surfaced trail that runs for 4.3 miles through central Maple Valley.
Parkrun: Saturdays 9am at the At the Renton Trailhead near the I-405.
