Montgo Mountain, at the northern end of the Costa Blanca, is a popular hiking spot. The craggy peak is known for rock formations, caves, natural harbors & unusual flora & fauna. There are some wonderful, challenging trail running options here. The best bet for a more accessible run is the Carretera de La Colònia, which is a wide gravel path on the Denia side of Montgo. From Ermita del Pare Pere, take Calle Fenas for 300m to the main path. After a short, steep climb, the path levels off as it heads in either direction for several km. It’s popular to then hike to the RacĂł del Bou and the La cova de l’aigua, but these are steep, with challenging footing.

Essentials
  • Many km in either direction
  • 100m+ initial climb, then it becomes flatter
  • Ermita del Pare Pere is a good starting point
