Villajoyosa Coastal Run

Needpix.com

Further north along the Costa Blanca, the pretty town of Villajoyosa features a pleasant seaside promenade along the Platja la Vila Joiosa (beach) that’s lovely for running. Great water views and a festive atmosphere. The path starts just south of Casas de Colores, near the parking area, and continues for 1.2 km along the beach. Then, leave the main road and take a jaunt around the marina to the port. Continue further north for another 1 km on the Barri la Almadrava, alongside the Playa de los Estudiantes. In all, this is a 3.5 km one-way, or 7 km out and back.

Post-run tip: be sure to visit the chocolate factory!

Add-On: The coastal town of Villajoyosa (called La Vila by locals) is lovely, with colorful houses and a nice old section. A nice little side run off the coastal road is to enjoy some of the streets of the Old Town, around Paseo de Sant Pere up to the N-332a.
