Alicante is a historic Mediterranean port located on Spain’s east coast, the center of the Valencian Costa Blanca. There are beautiful beaches, seafront promenades, and a wealth of inland nature preserves in this fairly arid area. Our guide to running in Alicante includes several routes in the city, and several Costa Blanca coastal routes north to Dénia and south to San Pedeo del Pinatar.
In the city of Alicante, we’ve mapped a gorgeous coastal route, a climb to Castell de la Santa Bàrbara, and a couple of lovely parks. Some of the best places to run in Alicante north along the coast are numerous seafront promenades, including San Juan Playa to Playa Muchavista, Villajoyosa, Benidorm, and in Jávea/Xàbia. Inland, there are some hilly nature preserves that are wonderful for running, including La Serra Gelada Natural Park, Montgo Mountain, and Font Roja Natural Park. Trail runners will love these parks too.
We also feature several waterfront paths in Southern Coata Blanca, between with routes in Torrevieja, Punta Prima, Oriheula, and Torre De La Horadada. Another special running spot is the wetlands of Regional Park of the Salinas de San Pedro.
