In the Montrose area, we’ve put together a nice running route incorporating the wooded trails of Georges Island Park, and then a jaunt to Steam Boat Dock in Verplanck. Start at the 208-acre waterfront Georges Point Park, which features magnificent views of the historic Hudson River. There are 2-3 miles of mainly wooded trails. The 1.5-mile Nature Trail has good footing and an easy grade. To continue toward Steam Boat Dock, exit the park and turn LEFT  onto Sunset Road, headed north. Caution: no sidewalk/shoulder. Continue onto Kings Ferry Road, which has a nice, sidewalked section along Lake Meahagh, with nice water views. Bear LEFT on Riverview Ave., which opens out to the river beautifully at Verplanck Point. Retrace your steps back to Georges Island Park.

Overall this is a 6-7 mile run if you do a loop of Georges Island Park and then the route to Steam Boat Dock. Of course you can also start this route in Verplanck.
