The waterfront promenade is the signature run in Tangier. One can run for 8.5 km along the water, enjoying great sea views. There are 5 km on a wide sidewalk along Ave. Mohammed VI and 3.5 km along Route de la Plage, which isa more scenic, dedicated path.
Possibly the best place to run in the Lusaka area. Trails of of 2.5 km, 5 km & 10 km around a game farm with safe wildlife viewing! Fairly open terrain. You might see giraffe, hartebeest, warthogs, & more. Located 20 km south of the city.
A nice way to the center of Stellenbosch. Includes the oak-shaded Victoria St., campus of Stellenbosch University, trails around the Jan Marais Nature Reserve, a running track, & pretty homes along Van Riebeeck St. Good add-on options.
Of the numerous gorgeous, white sand beaches on Unguja, the best for running is Kiwenga and the series of beaches from Pongwe headed north. Nungwi Beach is also good for running, though more tidally dependent.
A wonderful run in the cobbled neighborhood of Sidi Bou Said, including a waterfront promenade, jaunt around the marina, famous 365 Steps, Ennejma Ezzahra Palace, and the lovely Parc de Sidi Bou Saïd.

The best running in Muscat is along one of a series of waterfront promenades. We've mapped four non-contiguous sections between from Mutra and Seeb Beach. Great views of the Gulf of Oman & interior mountains. Beaches are also runnable!
The signature run in Jeddah. Wide, palm-lined waterfront path along the Red Sea. Parks, outdoor sculptures, great water & skyline views, and the highest fountain in the world! Up to 11 km one-way. The 3.4 km Walk Of Prince Faisal Bin Fahad adds variety.
The longest beachfront promenade in Sub-Saharan Africa is the signature running spot in Durban. The 8 km brick pathway along Golden Mile and Durban Beach features great views of the Indian Ocean. The beach is also runnable.
The Umhlanga Promenade is a pretty brick pathway lining the beach. The Umhlanga Lighthouse and Whalebone Pier are the highlights. An out and back is about 5 km.
In addition to its numerous athletic facilities, Sport City in the center of Amman has a great 2 km dirt and asphalt running track.
Located in the east of Amman, Al-Hussein (King Hussein) Park is one of the largest public parks in the city. There is up to 8.5 km of running here, with more streets in the residential Dabouq neighborhood. Bonus: The park is well-lit for night running!
Run the streets of Fez’s pedestrian friendly medina (Fes El Bali) on our 8 km ‘runseeing’ tour. Highlights include the city walls, gardens, and leather tanneries.
Some of the best running in Fez is located in the Forêt d'ain Chkef, a shaded forest located just south of the city center. Here, runners can find over 5k of smooth gravel and dirt pathways.
One of the better options for a road run is the N6 highway between Fez and Meknes. Our favorite section is the wide sidewalk between Agdal and the Université Euro-Méditerranéenne de Fez, nearly 6 km.
The 270 hectare Pardisan Park is one of the larger green spaces in Central Tehran. It’s possible to put together a loop of up to 10 km here, complete with a run over a suspension bridge, views of the Milad Tower, and sighting of local wildlife.
Excellent variety of running options in this 1,450 hectare park located in District 22 in western Tehran. Paths and asphalt roadways, a 5 km boardwalk around a lake, and some forested trail running. Add adjacent botanical gardens
One of the best street runs in Tehran. Valiasr Street is a main thoroughfare through the center of the city with a wide, tree-lined sidewalk. Highlights include parks, architectural sights, and historic homes. Up to 17.5 km one-way.
Run the 3.4 km brick, palm-lined walking/running path surrounding King Fahad Medical City (KFMC). It’s a popular recreation destination and well-lit for night running.
King Abdullah Park is the largest park in the city. It’s famous for its dancing water fountain displays, sprawling green lawns, and miles of wide stone and brick paths. The perimeter path is 2 km.
Runners will find a 4 km rectangular running/walking path around the campus of Prince Sultan University, just northeast of Riyadh center. There are other 'walkway' paths to enjoy, notably the King Abdullah Flower Path.
The boardwalk from Summerstrand to Kings Beach is the finest waterfront run in Port Elizabeth, totaling 4 km out and back along the beach.

Run the garden-lined median of Boulevard Mohammed VI, which runs 8 km between Chamo El Ghoul and Agdal. Add on loops of Oliveraie Park, Menara Gardens, or Cyber Park for more distance.
The signature run in Bahrain, nearly all off-road. Loop around the Dohat Arad Lagoon is 3 km, with nice water views and several parks. Then, waterside paths to Arad Fort add another 4 km.

The signature run in Abu Dhabi is the path along the Corniche, featuring great views of the water, beach, and the city skyline. It's up to 9.3 km one-way. Add-on with a loop around the grounds of the Emirates Palace or Al Kasir Island.
The signature run in Casablanca is along ~13 km of waterfront roads and paths, from the Marina to the Morocco Mall. Sites include Hassan II Mosque, El Hank Lighthouse, and numerous beaches, which are also runnable.
Just 3 km from Nairobi’s Central Business District, the Nairobi Arboretum is a great central running location, with well-maintained trails and lots of opportunities for viewing native flora and fauna.
The beloved running spot for locals, this escape just north of the city is full of smooth and rolling dirt forest roads. The Kenyan Forest Service, which maintains the park, has mapped out 5, 10, and 15 km routes.
Get your hill training in at the Ngong Hills Nature Reserve, where runners can jog across the Great Rift on a dirt road with great views for up to 22 km out and back. It's not technical but there are some steep sections.
This lengthy dirt path along is pleasant itself for a run of up 20 km one-way, and also connects to a 3.5 km loop on paved paths at Emmarentia Dam/Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, and a 5k dirt loop around Delta Park.
There is lovely neighborhood running in the Parkview area, especially along Westcliff Drive. Combine this great sidewalk with a loop around peaceful Zoo Lake and a jaunt up the challenging Westcliff Stairs for a unique ~8 km out and back.
Israel's second largest city is a lively, multicultural dynamo. The signature running in Tel Aviv is the promenade along the Mediterranean. Nice runs along the Yarkon River, some cool neighborhoods, Boulevard Rothschild, and Herzliya.
The best places to run in Jerusalem include our 'runseeing' tour, the Promenade (Tayelet), rail trail (Rekevet), The Forest, Sacher Park, and the Ben Shemen Forest. We don't recommend running in the Old City.
The signature run in Beirut. The path along the Mediterranean coast from Ain al-Mreisse south to the Raouche Rocks features great water views, hotels, restaurants, and some great Beirut sights.
The most pleasant urban park for running in Beirut. Located near the National Museum, one can put together a 2.0-2.5 km lap along paths featuring pine trees and lovely greenery. The park has quite a history and was only reopened to the public in 2015.
The 8 km promenade alongside Dubai’s Marina is one of the most scenic runs in Dubai, with towering skyscrapers lining the paved path on one side, and turquoise waters and yachts on the other.
The coastline of the Jumeirah Corniche is the ideal spot for a long waterfront run, much of it with on-beach running tracks. Good stretches are nearly 10 km from Umm Suqeim Park to the Dubai Zoo, almost all of it on tracks.
Spectacular run around the waterfront edge of this palm shaped, man-made resort center of Dubai which juts into the harbor between the Marina and Al Sufouh Beach. You can run 11 km along The Crescent, or 2.7 km on the 'trunk' in Al Ittihad Park.
The signature run in Doha. Promenade along the Gulf with dramatic water and skyline views. It's 5 km from the Sheraton Hotel Park to the Museum of Islamic Art, with add-ons out to the port or another 1.5 km to the Qatar National Museum.
A 7-mile Jerusalem ‘tourist’ run. Busy Hebron Rd., outskirts of the Old City, up to Hebrew University and Mount Scopus, returning through Damascus Gate.
The most significant green space in the area. About 3km west of the city. Numerous road and trail options. The forest houses the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial, and is near Mt. Herzl.
One of the great urban beach runs in the world. Run ~4 mile promenade path between Tel Aviv Port and Midron Yaffo Park in old Jaffa. The beach itself is also great for running. Very festive, tons of people!
The Sea Point Promenade is probably Cape Town’s most popular route. The path between Granger Bay and Bantry Bay is flat, surrounded by green grass and stunning sea views. 9 km out and back.
